Musician and Entertainer Extraordinaire!

Bill Shontz is a gifted entertainer, musician, singer, songwriter, producer and educator.  He performs for adults, children, and families and has an uncanny ability to entertain even the most sophisticated audiences.  Along with his versatile singing voice, he plays clarinet, flute, saxophone, recorders the Didjeri Du, wooden flutes and other wind instruments.  The music styles range from Jazz to Folk, Rock n’ Roll to good old-fashioned sing-alongs.  

Before returning to his roots, performing live jazz, Bill helped to set the stage for what children's entertainment is today. For twenty years Bill was one half of the nationally acclaimed duo, RosenShontz. He has entertained millions of children, and their families, throughout the country with his imaginative and witty style of music and humor.

He has performed in such notable places as The White HouseFenway Park for the Boston Red SoxLive With Kathy Lee and RegisThe Today Show, and even Disneyland.

Bill has ten award-winning albums and three videos to his credit that have won over 25 National Awards and an Emmy nomination and sold over 750,000 copies
Since embarking on his solo career in the early ‘90’s, Bill has recorded three award-winning albums and produced a book on Musical Improvisation.

Most recently he has become a member of the legendary 60’s group ORPHEUS and is traveling around the country playing at venues such as Mechanics Hall in Worcester MA (symphony hall) and the Marin County Fair in California and Berkely Performing Arts Center.

He has played with the most recorded drummer in history (over 3500 albums) Bernard "Pretty" Purdy

He is a judge for the Joe Raposo,  ASCAP awards for up and coming children's recording artists competition
New England Foundation for the Arts and Meet the Composer, which frequently provide funding grants for sponsors.

Most recently he started collaborating with Zack Danziger and Kate Nicolau to form the versatile singing and instrumental group "Sweet As Sugar".  They combine their versatile voices with Bill's woodwinds and Zacks guitar playing to create totally new arrangements of well known songs.  One of their favorite things to do is to combine songs in a fusion of folk and jazz, or pop and jazz.  Great harmonies, clever arrangements and lighthearted banter and stories are the hallmark of this wonderfully entertaining group.
